ALOR SETAR: Kedah PN chairman, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, expressed sadness over the tragedy that claimed the lives of three leaders of the Pas Women's Wing in the Sungai Petani last evening.

The three deceased individuals are Taibah Sulaiman (Sungai Petani Women's Wing chief) ), Nur Najihah Amzi (Sungai Petani assistant secretary of Pas women's wing ), and Nor Fatihah Nabila (Chief Ameerah of Sungai Petani district)

"...They passed away while engaged in noble charitable efforts, assisting others who had met with an accident on the North-South Expressway (Behrang, Perak) while returning home after attending the party's Annual General Assembly in Shah Alam," he said in a statement here last night.

"To their families, relatives, and close friends, may you find strength in facing this loss that we will all follow eventually.

"With a sense of sadness and loss, let us all join in prayer," said Sanusi, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar.

District Police Chief of Muallim, Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir, said the accident involved four cars and two motorcycles.

"The incident is believed to have occurred when a 39-year-old man lost control of his four-wheel drive and veered before overturning into a drain.

"Subsequently, thee three women members of the PAS Muslim Women's Wing in Sungai Petani stopped in the emergency lane to assist the driver," he said.

Also stopping on the emergency lane to offer assistance were a 42-year-old male motorcycle rider, a 46-year-old male motorcycle rider, and a 31-year-old male car driver.

"About five minutes later, a Toyota Altis driven by a 30-year-old man suddenly lost control, crashing into the three women and three men, causing all the victims to be thrown into the drain," he said in a statement yesterday.

Mohd Hasni said that this resulted in the deaths of Fatihah Nabila, 23, and Taibah, 61, at the scene, while Nurul Najihah, 27, passed away while receiving treatment at the hospital, with other victims sustaining injuries.
