KLANG: A wife's instinct that something bad had happened to her husband was proven true when Shaharul Amir Omar was confirmed dead in the aircraft crash near Elmina, Shah Alam, yesterday.

Shaharul Amir, 49, who was with Pelangai assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun since last Wednesday for work purposes, was among six passengers on board of the doomed aircraft, which crashed during its approach into Subang Airport from Langkawi.

Suhaila Akashah, 46, said the night before the incident, Shaharul had informed that he would board a private aircraft with Johari.

"About 3pm, I saw news of an aircraft crash that went viral on social media.

"Somehow, I had the feeling that my husband was involved in the incident, despite no confirmation from any quarters," she said when met at the Forensics Department of the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR).

He said her husband was a former navy personnel.

"Hence, I contacted the air force chief to confirm the matter, and he confirmed that my husband was on board," he said.

Suhaila, who is from Manjung, was at the hospital with her children, aged between 12 and 19, and family members for the DNA process to identify the remains.

"When I got to know about the incident, I contacted the schools and asked for permission to take them home and head to HTAR."

Shaharul's nephew Saidi Sarip, 59, said the remains will be taken to Manjung for burial.

"We accept this as fate and leave the matter to the respective authorities to settle the affairs of the victims' remains."
