LIPIS: A husband and wife died in an accident at Km8 of the Central Spine Road at 11.30am today.
District police chief Superintendent Ismail Man said the couple were on their way home in Taman Bukit Pedah, Jerantut, from Bachok, Kelantan.
He said the couple, Mohd Nafiah Abdul Wahab, 53, who was driving a Perodua Kancil, and Rofidah Ahmad, 54, died at the scene.
"Initial investigations found that the driver lost control and veered off into the road divider," he said.
"The bodies of both victims were taken to Lipis Hospital for post-mortem, and the cause of death will be determined after the results of Covid-19 tests are obtained."
He added that the road they were driving on was straight and flat, and had a two-lane single-direction system, with the condition being dry, and that the weather at the scene was good.
