KUALA TERENGGANU: Remains of the six victims from the Jeram Air Putih water surge tragedy are expected to be brought back to their hometown for funeral rites by this evening.

The remains of Azizah Eiyi, 40, her husband Karim Abdullah, 39, and their children Muhammad Zulqarnain Haikal, 11; Muhammad Haziq Ziqree, 6; Putri Aryana Umaira, 4, and Putri Nurerina Natasya, 10, will be brought to Masjid FELDA Lepar Hilir 3, Gambang, Pahang for 'jenazah' prayers and the burial ceremony.

Father to Azizah, Eiyi Johari, 60, said that the remains will be brought back once the post- mortem had been completed.

"Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) said we can bring back the six remains first once the post- mortem is done.

"The remains will be shrouded at HSNZ and then will be brought to Gambang.

"The seventh victim is already at HSNZ with the eldest daughter (Putri Balqis Izzati) found earlier today, but it would take a bit of time for the post- mortem of her, hence we are taking back the six first," he said when met outside of the HSNZ Forensic Department here today.

It was reported that 10 people including Karim, his wife Azizah and their seven children, as well as Muhammad Fikri Saliman, went for a picnic at the location on Saturday before being swept away by a water surge phenomenon.

As of today, eight victims were found and identified.
