LANGKAWI: The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (Lima) exhibition is an impactful platform in nurturing future talents for the Malaysian armed forces.

In acknowledging this, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said he was surprised to see himself the impact of Lima on the children's interest in the security forces.

"This morning, I went to greet pilots performing in the airshow (at the tarmac).

"While walking back (into the hall) I came across some children and I asked them what they want to become when they grow up.

"They told me they want to become pilots. That is the impact of Lima on our young children," he told reporters after the official closing ceremony for Lima '23.

Mohamad said that this was the impact that he wished to see, besides the biennial event's positive impact on businesses.

"I hope that Lima will have an impact not only on businesses but also on talent development among our younger generations.

"We have visitors coming from all over the country from as far as Sabah and Johor with their families.

"This (Lima) will be a platform for our youngsters to get exposure on careers in the air force, navy (and) military, and also our policies on nurturing the interest of young Malaysians to join the armed forces," he said.

Mohamad added that yesterday, over 90,000 people had visited the exhibition and he expected a huge crowd during the final day of the show.
