KUALA LUMPUR: A Thai TikToker has imparted her wisdom on how to eat takeaway Hainanese chicken rice soup without a bowl.

Eating takeaway chicken rice has always been tricky since eateries don't provide small polystyrene bowls for soup to be poured into. Instead, the soup and sauces are tied in small plastic packets.

Customers would often end up dirtying their hands from untying the packets, and would also need to stretch the packets wide enough to stand them upright without having them tilt over and spill their contents everywhere.

Thus, a TikTok user named @jypsonathatthai shared an ingenious, cost-free solution to the problem.

In her voiceless tutorial, all she did was poke her fork in the plastic packet a few inches above the liquid and push the plastic with a spoon for the soup to bleed into it.

The method can also be applied to sauce or ketchup packed in a similar fashion.

The life hack video gained 6.5 million views with 202.3K likes and has gained supportive comments from most Malaysians.

User @Naa said she had never thought of the idea, and @aida was glad that she was not the only one who used a similar hack.

However, some users were concerned about the hygiene surrounding the method used.

"I'd rather open the plastic because we don't know how long it had been outside before someone bought it," @Lovelydays1 said.

Meanwhile, @zymahzymah185 said: "If I do it that way, the soup will spritz in my face."
