BUTTERWORTH: Any party plotting to overthrow the government can do what they like, but they will be rejected by the people.

Penang Pakatan Harapan chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the people have already made their decision in the 15th General Election (GE15), resulting in the formation of the unity government.

"In this case, many comments have been given. The people have made a decision, all parties have reached an agreement, and the unity government has also been formed.

"The anti-hopping law is already in place but there are still people speaking gibberish (without taking the law into account) and are pushing for a new election.

"So, if they think that is the best way (to topple the government) they can try but the people will reject it," he said when asked to comment on rumours of a movement to overthrow the unity government.

Previously, the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, had voiced his concern over rumours concerning the stability of the government, although six months have passed since the 15th General Election.

Sultan Ibrahim had said the priority must be the people, economy, and the country's prosperity.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia supreme council member Muhammad Faiz Na'aman had, on his Facebook, hinted that the so-called plot was in the works, raising the ire of unity government supporters.

He described the number "126", which was uploaded in one of his posts on Facebook, as significant, with some associating the figure with the number of members of parliament purportedly in support of Perikatan Nasional.
