BATU PAHAT: Two men were killed while another was injured after the driver lost control of the car before crashing into four other vehicles parked in front of a vehicle service centre at Kilometre 11, Jalan Kluang, here early this morning.

Batu Pahat police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the two who died were the driver, Teo Kai Hong, 22, and rear passenger, Marcus Teo Howe Yue, 19.

He said the front passenger who was critically injured had yet to be identified.

Ismail added the three friends were believed to have gone for a drive in the area before the accident happened at about 12.50am.

"Preliminary investigation at the scene found that the accident happened when the driver of the Honda Civic and his passengers were on their way from Batu Pahat to Sri Gading.

"When arriving at the scene, the driver lost control before crashing into four cars parked in front of a vehicle service centre.

"As a result, the driver and the rear passenger were seriously injured in the head and body and died at the scene, while the front passenger was taken to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI), Batu Pahat, for treatment," he said when contacted by Berita Harian.

The case is being classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, the Penggaram Fire and Rescue station mobilised five machinery and 12 personnel to the scene.

Operations commander Senior Officer II Mohd Shahrul Nizam Sadri said the two victims were trapped and the other got out on his own before an emergency response team arrived.

"The team then extricated the trapped victims using special equipment and both victims were pronounced dead by Health Ministry officers at the scene.

"They were then handed over to the police for further action," he said.
