KUANTAN: Three food stalls here have been ordered to close for 14 days after the operators failed to prioritise hygiene and cleanliness.

Kuantan City Council (MBK) Corporate and Public Communications section head Norkamawati Kamal said among the offences committed were boiling faeces-tainted chicken eggs, employing workers without health cards, not wearing aprons or head covers and using damaged utensils and plates.

"The floors of the stalls are also filthy and the owners were not at the premises when the inspections were carried out.

"Following this, six compounds were issued amounting to RM1,150 to the errant stall holders," she said when contacted here today.

Norkamawati said that the inspection operation was carried out by MBK on Jan 5

She added that as a result the three stalls involved were ordered to close for 14 days from the date the operation was carried out.

"Among the offences committed by the stall holders are under Section 107(2) of the Local Government Act of 1976 (Act 171), Section 8, Section 31 (dirty food containers), Section 6(1) handling food and Section 6(1) Cleanliness."
