KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry has decided to push five development projects worth RM650 million through open or limited tender.

Although the projects were initially approved through direct negotiations, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the government had not issued a letter of acceptance to the developers yet.

Loke said the ministry reversed the approval in line with the new administration's decision not to approve procurements without tenders.

The projects are:

* Slope stabilisation and re-profiling along railroads in Pahang (Mentakab to Merapoh);

* Slope stabilisation and re-profiling along railroads in Kelantan (Gua Musang to Tumpat);

* The appointment of an independent checking consultant for the Klang Valley Double Tracking (KVDT) Phase 2 project;

* Repair and restoration work at the Gua Musang-Tumpat railway that was damaged by floods; and,

* Repair and upgrading work at the Gemas-Mentakab railway.
