KUALA LUMPUR: Three Indonesian men were found dead in an underground site while installing telecommunication cables.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said the victims were suspected to have died of gas poisoning.

He said they were identified as Jufri, 42, Adnani, 34, and Febri Putra Arsandi, 30.

Norazam said a distress call was received at 3.17pm informing that three contract workers had collapsed inside a five-metre-deep sewer in Taman Sains Selangor 2.

A team from the Cyberjaya fire station arrived at the scene seven minutes later.

"The three were unconscious when they were brought out from the sewer before the paramedics confirmed their deaths.

"The victims' remains were taken to Serdang Hospital for post-mortem."
