KUANTAN: Two rivers in Pahang, namely in Maran and Bera, recorded water-level readings that breached the danger mark as of 4pm today.

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) said that Sungai Pahang at Lubuk Paku, Maran recorded a reading of 19.24m, while Sungai Triang recorded 34.62m compared to 34.50m which had been set as the danger level.

Three rivers breached the warning level, which were Sungai Serting at the Padang Gudang bridge, Bera; Sungai Jempol at the Rancangan Felda Jengka, Maran, and Sungai Belat at Sri Damai here.

Seven other rivers have recorded readings above the cautionary level, including Sungai Tanum at the Chegar Perah bridge, Lipis; Sungai Kundang at the Sungai Kundang bridge, Maran, and Sungai Keratong at Jalan Kota Bahagia, Rompin.

The Malaysian Metereological Department said today that heavy rains and thunderstorms were expected over six districts in the state. These are Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin.
