NIBONG TEBAL: The Education Ministry is expected to announce its findings on its review regarding Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) and the school academic calendar next week.

Minister Fadhlina Sidek said she hoped all quarters remain patient while waiting for the announcement on the matter and would ensure that all issues raised would be addressed.

"As I have informed (earlier), a special press conference would be held next week to address the issues raised and ministry's directions.

"Parents can expect the issues (UPSR, PT3), apart from matters closely related to stakeholders and consultation," she said at Kenduri Rakyat for Nibong Tebal parliament constituency at Masjid Daerah Seberang Perai Selatan, Jawi, here today.

She said she took into consideration all views, criticism and hopes of parents and stakeholders on education.

Earlier, some parents in social media posts had asked the newly-appointed minister to bring back UPSR and PT3.

They raised concers over the fate of their children, which they described as lost generation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On academic calendar, Fadhlina said the matter had been explained in a statement by the ministry.

"I will give further details on the matter as the process takes a while to explain during the special media conference.

"I hope everyone can remain patient and (we) will try to solve the issues one by one, according to procedure," she added.
