KUALA LUMPUR: There is nothing wrong with Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin seeking the deputy prime minister post for the coalition.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said cabinet appointments were the prerogative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

"I don't think it's wrong to ask, but the point is that the appointment of the deputy prime minister is the prerogative of the prime minister," he said after the Malaysian Digital Economy Industry Appreciation Awards here today.

Yesterday, the president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) said he had met the prime minister a few days ago, to discuss cabinet appointments, especially the deputy prime ministers post as promised to PN.

Muhyiddin also raised appointments in government-linked companies and statutory bodies, as well as government allocations.

On allegations that he was in Ismail Sabri's team for the next Umno election, Annuar said he did not dwell on the matter because he was working for the people.

"We have never discussed the matter. I know there are parties who are spreading the (new Umno leadership) committee chart.

"I don't have time to think about all that, but we never sat down once to talk about the line-up and the contest (party polls).

"We have limited time. A lot of work needs to be done," he said.
