KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) distributed bubur lambuk to all Media Prima staff at Balai Berita Bangsar here, today.

MAIWP deputy chief executive officer (management) Mahadi Sukarno said the council hoped to forge closer cooperation with Media Prima to help the asnaf community (those eligible to receive zakat).

"Our target is to increase the zakat payment including waqf, but also to strengthen and improve the Islamic economy especially the asnaf.

"MAIWP always welcomes collaboration so that we do not just look from the point of view of asnaf but also on how media can help improve the lives of the asnaf community.

"Insyaallah, under the leadership of MAIWP's CEO, we will cooperate closely with Media Prima," he said.

Present were Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid and New Straits Times Press marketing, communications and sales support general manager Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman.
