KOTA BARU: The death of 5-year-old Rayan Oram has tugged the heart of the Muslims and the non-Muslims alike here.

The young boy died on Saturday. He had fell into a 32-meter-deep well for five days since Tuesday at his village of Ighran, located in the hills near Chefchaouen, northern Morocco.

Technical support from Ricoh (M) Sdn Bhd Uthayakumar Nagarajan said everyone, regardless of their faiths across the globe, felt the pain when Rayan died.

The 37-year-old from Seremban said like other Malaysians, he had been following the news on the painstaking five-day operation to reach the Moroccon boy.

Uthayakumar said he also shared his concerns and sympathy towards little Rayan.

"My family and I also have been following the news on the rescue operation closely from day one. As the youngest in my family, I would provide news updates to my 60-year-old mother and 82-year-old grandmother and they were heartbroken when I showed the boy's picture to them.

"They told me that it would be hard on Rayan's parents and could not imagine if similar incident happened to our family. They have been praying for his safety since then.

"Rayan has left a deep mark in all of us and we are devastated upon learning that the death of the little boy," he added.

Morocco's Royal Court confirmed late Saturday the death of the boy shortly after he was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.

Uthayakumar said one should learn from the incident and pray that it would not happen in Malaysia by taking all precautionary measures.
