KUALA LUMPUR: Almost 95 per cent of adults in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination.

In a Twitter post, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin shared that as of 11.59pm yesterday, 94.3 per cent of adults in the country, or 22,084,594 individuals, have been fully vaccinated.

Based on the data shared by Khairy, 97.3 per cent have received at least one dose of their Covid-19 vaccine, while 4.8 per cent were unvaccinated.

In the same post, Khairy has also congratulated the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) for making the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) a success.

"With almost 95 per cent of adults fully vaccinated, CITF had its last meeting today.

"Thank you to all at CITF for making NIP a success," he said.

Khairy also uploaded a photo of him with Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba chairing the last meeting.

Khairy added the remaining vaccination exercise will now be under the purview of the Health Ministry, with the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force-Adolescent (CITF-A) being chaired by his deputy Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, who is also CITF-A chairman.

As for the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force-Booster (CITF-B), it will be chaired by Khairy himself.

The government had on Feb 17 announced the setting up of a special task force, known as CITF to manage the implementation of the NIP.

The CITF-A was established on Sept 20 to oversee the NIP for adolescents.
