KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong is wasting no time in ensuring that pending issues are addressed following his reappointment as Transport Minister.

Wee, who is MCA president and Ayer Hitam member of parliament, said he is among others making sure that delivery of goods to the people are proceeding smoothly, as well as bolstering economic recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic.

"These are among the items that are given priority, apart from the development of the land, air and maritime transport sectors," he said in a statement on Facebook today.

MCA currently holds two seats in the Dewan Rakyat. The new cabinet lineup by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob saw MCA accorded one full ministerial post and four deputy ministers.

Conveying his appreciation at being reappointed to the role, Wee pledged to do his best to justify the trust and responsibility given for the sake of the people and country.

"Congratulations also to cabinet colleagues on their respective appointments who will be sworn in this Monday.

"I am confident that we can improve our efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 and make it a priority, apart from focusing on various aspects to continue the survival of the people and revive the economy.

"This is in line with the prime minister's theme of 'Keluarga Malaysia' in bringing a united spirit to offer the best service for the people.

"In this regard, the political gap needs to be closed to ensure that the strategies in the National Recovery Plan (NRP) can run smoothly and successfully," he said.

Wee also voiced his gratitude to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for his consent on the new cabinet.
