KLANG: The Klang district Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) operating at the Taman Sri Andalas Sports Centre will be moved to the Port Klang Multipurpose Hall on Friday.

Sungai Kandis assemblyman Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the relocation was decided after discussions with the state Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Nor Azmie Diron on July 25.

Operations at the Taman Sri Andalas CAC, he said, which began on July 12, will cease tomorrow.

It was originally planned to open until December but it was scrapped following objections from nearby residents, who voiced concerns over overcrowding which saw queues of over 200m as well as traffic congestion.

"The new location was chosen after taking into consideration several factors such as it is further away from the community, it is spacious and in proximity to a health clinic which will ease matters.

"The current CAC is too close to the community which is just 40 metres away from a neighbourhood and surau. I am glad that it will be shifted," he said in a press conference today.

The Klang District Health Office had also confirmed the CAC's relocation in a statement today, saying that it will bring convenience to personnel as well as patients.
