KUALA LUMPUR: Former Berita Harian assistant chief sub-editor, Foziah Taib died from Covid-19 early Friday.

Foziah, who was 53, died at the Serdang Hospital near here at 12.48am.

Her eldest child, Shahirah Sharoman, 28, confirmed her mother died from complications stemming from the virus when contacted by Berita Harian.

According to Shahirah, her mother was buried at the Muslim cemetery at Kampung Sungai Purun, Semenyih.

"I received a call from the hospital at midnight that my mother had died after she suffered from Category 4 symptoms with infections to her lungs.

"My mother was rushed to the emergency unit after her oxygen level dropped below average. She had frequently complained of having aches and pains," said Shahirah when relating the devastating news of her mother's death.

Her four siblings and she had also tested positive for Covid-19.

"My father is also a Covid-19 patient and was in hospital. He was discharged on July 11," she said.

Shahirah said all her family members decided to undergo their Covid-19 swab test on June 30 after they came into close contact with positive cases.

Only her father was confirmed with the virus after the results from the first swab test returned.

"However, my mother and my younger siblings went to the district health clinic to be issued the wristband (to undergo home quarantine).

"We were also advised to undergo a second swab test.

"After two days waiting for the test results for my mother on July 4, my four younger siblings were confirmed positive with the virus.

"Even my youngest sibling who is four-years-old, tested positive. All of us were developing symptoms such as fever, cough and flu." she said.
