KUALA LUMPUR: Covid-19 patients who have recovered will experience four persistent symptoms which can last up to three months.

Sungai Buloh Hospital Infectious Disease Senior Consultant Specialist Datuk Dr C. Suresh Kumar said the former patients reportedly suffered from fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain and cough.

"These are the most common symptoms and even more so if they had a higher level of illness and they had to be admitted into the Intensive Care Unit.

"In Sungai Buloh Hospital, we have the Covid-19 Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialised Service which calls up patients of severe level to find out how they are doing.

"If they have symptoms, we will call them up. We are collecting data from them which will aid us.

"Internationally, we already know that many of them have these symptoms that persists up to three months. It will take time for the patients to recover from them," he said.

Dr Suresh said this during a Covid-19 State of Emergency engagement session organised by the Health Ministry with the media today.

The virtual session was also attended by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
