KUALA TERENGGANU: Several hundred families affected by the flood in Terengganu received assistance under the New Straits Times Press-Media Prima Disaster Relief Fund today.

The aid is in the form of hygiene kits consisting of basic medication and other items worth RM150 each.

Volunteers from the media conglomerate's welfare unit distributed the kits to about 700 families affected by the flood in Terengganu.

Media Prima group chairman Datuk Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid said the aid was a result of public contributions channeled into the fund, and was part of the group's overall humanitarian programmes and efforts.

"We will continue to channel the donations to help ease the burden of victims affected by the current flood disaster in several states.

"Thank you to our community for always being concerned about the calamities that affect the people," he said in a statement.

Media Prima group corporate communications general manager Zasman Asna and a team from the NSTP-Media Prima Volunteer Brigade presented the hygiene kits to Terengganu Welfare Department director Zuhami Omar in Kuala Terengganu today.

The families selected to receive the aid will be determined by the department.

Syed Hussian said members of the public who want to help flood victims and contribute to disaster relief could continue doing so under the NSTP-Media Prima Disaster Fund.

Sabasun HyperRuncit also collaborated in the initiative by providing fair prices for the flood relief items, said the statement.
