IPOH: The state government has introduced Phase Four of the Perak Economic Stimulus Package to help hawkers and small traders following the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said under this package, the state government has allocated RM9 million to ensure these businesses including micro-enterprises, are able to stay afloat since the CMCO was enforced in the state on Nov 7.

Faizal said among the initiatives under this package was the exemption of the November rental payment for eatery stalls owned by local authorities.

"This will benefit 10,355 hawkers and small traders at all 15 local authorities in the state with an allocation amounting to RM1.63 million," he said in a statement today.

He added that under this package, the state government would provide a one-off RM500 cash payment to 9,381 hawkers and small traders - the second one-off assistance after it was introduced in the second phase of the package.

In order to help more micro-entrepreneurs, Faizal said the state government has allocated an additional RM2.7 million for Perak Entrepreneur Prihatin Grants (GeRUP).

"Previously, in the second phase of the package, the state government had allocated RM1 million to help micro-entrepreneurs to be more competitive in the market," he added.
