KUALA LUMPUR: Digital mobile service Yoodo has announced the ultimate gaming glory to campuses across Malaysia with the launch of the "Yoodo Kejohanan E-Sukan Kampus Semester 3" (Yoodo KEK3).

Teaming up with MyGameOn, Yoodo is bringing back the epic KEK tournament for an exciting third season.

Yoodo KEK3 is expected to lay down the battlefield for thousands of college and university students to slash and snipe their way to victory, for a portion of the total prize pool of RM150,000.

Yoodo chief Chow Tuck Mun said KEK had firmly established itself as the premier campus-level esports tournament in Malaysia with 125,000 footfall and over five million live stream views, since its inaugural season.

"Yoodo is proud to be taking over and bringing you the exciting third semester of KEK.

"This semester, competitors will cross swords in the highly popular Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and lob grenades in Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM).

"Due to the on-going Covid-19 (pandemic), Yoodo KEK3 will be hosted completely online to prioritise participants' health and safety.

"To support this fully digital movement, Yoodo KEK3 also introduces the KEK Komuniti Platform. This will act as a one-stop virtual centre for the tournament with statistics, results, team breakdowns and more," Chow said.

Media Prima Digital (MPD) chief executive officer Rafiq Razali said MPD welcomed the tremendous support and feedback towards the first two editions of KEK.

"At Media Prima, we strive to constantly provide a platform for grassroots talents, ensuring opportunities for youths to chase their dreams and goals.

"This time around with Yoodo, we are confident that Yoodo KEK3 will be even better," he said.

Yoodo KEK3 began on June 6 featuring five regional zone online qualifiers and finals.

For those who e merge victorious, their battle will continue as they clash for glory and gold at the Grand Finale on July 18 and 19.

Celcom Axiata Berhad chief executive officer Idham Nawawi said as a pioneer within the local esports scene, Celcom was proud to bolster Yoodo KEK3 with its network and digital capacity.

"Yoodo is Celcom's answer to the increasing number of digital natives who prefer to transact online and exercise full control of their service via an app.

"Through Yoodo's involvement in KEK3, Celcom continues to invest in empowering gamers as the provider of choice in gratifying esports enthusiasts as well as our customers' digital lifestyle," Idham said.

Yoodo, powered by Celcom, is well-known among gamers for organising and sponsoring numerous esports tournaments in the last two years and introducing various gaming data add-ons.

Gamers now can also play all day with Yoodo's Call of Duty Mobile data add-on, which gives users 20GB of game-specific data for just RM5 per month.

A similar add-on for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is said to be in the works and will be announced very soon.
