BUKIT MERTAJAM: The state Education Department will not approve any application from any school to bring their students for overseas trips amid fears of the Covid-19 outbreak.

State Education Department director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad said the prohibition also applied to teachers as it did not want teachers to be infected by the virus.

“Until now, we have not approved any application from any school to bring their teachers or students overseas.

“We fully abide by the Education Ministry’s directive in the matter,” he said today.

Elaborating, Abdul Rashid also urged all teachers, students and parents to strictly adhere to the ministry’s directive to ensure cleanliness at all times to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Parents who bring their children overseas have been told to get themselves checked as soon as they return home. If need be, then they should be quarantined.

“More importantly, students in school must maintain the highest level of hygiene by constantly washing their hands,” he added.
