KUANTAN: Housewife Nur Aleya Dini Abdullah feared the worst when her four-year-old son was run over by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) during a hit-and-run incident near Serambi Teruntum, here, last Friday.

The 39-year-old dashed towards her son Anas Muqri and found him weak but still breathing. The SUV did not stop and instead sped off.

Nur Aleya and her husband, Fauzie Ibrahim, 39, rushed their son to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital where he miraculously survived with a broken hip bone and some bruises.

"I am speechless. God has spared my child and I am fortunate to still have him around. It was a bad accident and he survived with a fractured hip bone.

"When I saw him being hit, my mind went blank for a moment before rushing to help him. Thank God he was still breathing and is still alive," said the mother of three.

Nur Aleya added the incident happened in the blink of an eye as her son was standing with her husband who was carrying their other child, Sufi Aqmal, 3.

"Suddenly, Anas who was holding my husband's hands, ran across the road to the playground. After knocking my son, the driver did not step out of the vehicle and instead fled from the scene," she said, adding the family lodged a report at the district police station.

Meanwhile Pahang Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department Superintendent Kamarulzaman Jusoh said police would track down the owner of the vehicle.
