IPOH: The Youth wing of Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) today condemned the uncouth behaviour of a group of individuals who searched a police patrol car on polling day in Rantau yesterday.

“Being leaders or supporters of political parties are not tickets to behave in such a way or be disrespectful towards the uniformed authority such as the police,” said its chie, Mohd Hafez Mubin Mohd Salleh.

He said all quarters should respect the police’s work and responsibility in ensuring security.

“Everyone should understand this,” he said.

Hafez’s comment came after several videos were posted on social media featuring several individuals “inspecting” a police patrol car outside SJK(C) Chung Hua in Rantau.

The group forced the two policemen in the vehicle to open their boot, on suspicion of electoral fraud favouring Barisan Nasional.

Hafez said the Youth wing appreciated the police’s hard work and the profesionalism shown throughout the campaigning period and polling day.

It was reported today that police have identified five men, aged between 30 and 50, who were involved in the incident.
