CAMERON HIGHLANDS: A total of 29 police reports were lodged during the two weeks of campaigning in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

Pahang police chief Datuk Mohd Zakaria Ahmad said out of the 29 reports lodged, they had opened one investigation paper (IP) on images of the Cameron Highland’s by-election ballot paper being circulated online.

“Only one investigation paper had been opened, whereas the rest of the reports have been referred to other agencies such as the EC (Election Commission) and the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) for their further action,” he said.

Zakaria was speaking to reporters at the Cameron Highlands by-election media centre in Tanah Rata, here, today.

Meanwhile, on polling day tomorrow, he said a total of 1,148 police personnel would be on duty throughout Cameron Highlands to provide the necessary security as well as to prevent any untoward incidents.

He said in addition, a total of 110 traffic personnel would also be on duty in Jelai and Tanah Rata state constituencies which make-up the Cameron Highlands parliamentary constituency.

This is to ensure clear traffic passage as well as smooth movement of vehicles on polling day which falls on a Saturday, he said.

On security aspects, he said everything is in order and no threats were detected during the campaign period with everything going smoothly.
