KUALA LUMPUR: The Hulu Selangor district police have received seven police reports and opened two investigation papers since the nomination day of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election on Apr 27.

Selangor deputy police chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi, in a statement, said the police also made two arrests up until yesterday.

"One of the investigation papers was opened under Section 4(A) of the Election Offences Act or Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and another one under Section 4(a) of the Election Offences Act 1954, involving the modification of Umno logo (the keris was replaced with rocket) and using pictures of Yang di-Pertuan Agong on vehicles, along with the arrest of two local men.

"The remaining five cases are incidents lacking criminal elements and are related to the same report, with preventive action taken by the Hulu Selangor police," she said.

She further stated that the police have been monitoring campaigns and speeches to ensure compliance with the law.

Over the same period, there were 57 campaigns and 40 speeches conducted with permits over the period.
