KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has allocated RM2.896 billion for 2019 DBKL Budget to improve the standard of living and the well-being of Kuala Lumpur residents.

Of the total, RM1.694 billion or 58.5 per cent is provided for Operating Allocation and RM1.202 billion or 41.5 per cent for Development Allocation.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the Operating Allocation was down by 3.7 per cent or RM65.5 million from RM1.759 billion last year.

“Development Allocation increased by 4.9 percent or RM56.04 million from RM1.146 billion last year to implement development projects, purchases and replacement of capital assets.

“An allocation of RM20 million is given to manage the free services of GO-KL buses to city dwellers.

“Free school bus programmes are channelled to assist underprivileged kids with an allocation of RM11 million.

“We also allocated RM800,000 to help the homeless," he said here today.

Furthermore, RM124.1 million would be used to maintain roads, rivers, drains and back lanes around the city, including residential areas.

He added that the largest financing would be implemented for 31 projects with an allocation of RM567.8 million.

“RM308.3 million will be distributed to 29 projects for construction and upgrading of roads and RM259.5 million for drainage works.

“A total of RM142 million is allocated to repair and maintain over 73,000 housing units in the Project Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) and 32 Perumahan Awam (PA) areas.

“Also, RM34.4 million is allocated for replacement and upgrading of elevators in specific areas," he said.
