KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry will consider additional flight applications for domestic routes in line with increased demand, especially during festive seasons.

Transport Minister, Anthony Loke said the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) would review such requests before approving the application submitted by the respective airlines.

"A total of 13 Johor Baru-Kuching flights and 13 Johor Baru-Sibu flights had been added for the Chinese New Year celebration.

"Air Asia will introduce night flights from Johor Baru to Sibu to accommodate the increased demand.

"In conjunction with Christmas, we had not received any additional flight requests," he said.

Loke was replying to Mordi Bimol(PH DAP-Mas Gading) who asked on whether CAAM and MAVCOM had approved additional flights for the Johor Baru-Kuching and Johor Baru-Sibu routes ahead of the Christmas and Chinese New Year festive period during the Ministerial Question Time (MQT) in the Dewan Rakyat, today.

Loke also assured the ministry would continue to monitor aircraft ticket prices to ensure that any increase woul not be burdensome for consumers.
