TUMPAT: A 52-year-old man was stabbed to death by a close family member in their home in Kampung Kulim, Wakaf Baru here, last night.
The alleged perpetrator, believed to be mentally unstable, left the scene of the crime after the incident, but was tracked down and detained soon after.
The victim’s sister had made an emergency call to another brother at about 12.30am, saying that their brother had been “stabbed in the stomach and chest”.
"The younger brother then went to the house and found it covered with blood. (He called the police, and) the victim was sent to the Wakaf Baru clinic.
“The younger brother received a call at about 1am informing him that the victim had died," said State criminal investigation chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakri Che Sulaiman.
He added that a remand order will be made today.
