BATU PAHAT: A 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to severely injuring his 14-year-old sibling over a dispute involving money in the Sessions Court today.

Appearing before Judge Osman Affendi Mohd Shalleh, the man who is unmarried, pleaded guilty soon after the charges were read by the interpreter, according to Buletin TV3.

According to the charge sheet, he was charged for the offence that had taken place in their home in Taman Flora Heights on June 24 at 7.30pm.

The charges laid against him include Section 325 of the Penal Code alongside Section 326A, reflecting the severity of the offence.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Izzati Rozman emphasised the gravity of the situation, initially arguing against bail due to the nature of the offence.

"We initially opposed bail due to the seriousness of the offence and the risk of repeated incidents," she said during the proceedings.

However, the prosecution eventually offered a bail amount of RM15,000 with one surety, which was later adjusted by the court to RM8,000 with one surety.

The court set July 28 for the medical report.

At the same time, the court also imposed conditions that he must report to the nearby police station, refrain from disturbing or communicating with the victim, and avoid residing together with the victim.

Following the proceedings, he was remanded at the Muar Correctional Centre for failing to post bail.
