KUALA LUMPUR: A senior police officer is under investigation over the alleged leak of confidential information and photo of a rape victim, say the police.
This followed a police report circulating online on the alleged wrongdoing of a former district police chief, who was accused of distributing case facts and images with media personnel on a WhatsApp group.
Based on the details, the report was lodged in 2020 by an officer attached with the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, when contacted, said the case was still being investigated under Section 203 A of the Penal Code.
