KUALA LUMPUR: Police are in the process of constructing a photofit of the suspect in the acid attack case involving Selangor FC footballer Faisal Halim.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the process will begin today with the help of witnesses and CCTV footage from the scene.

"Today we will construct a photofit, from there we will also gather more information.

"We will also look into the fingerprints taken from the scene," he told the media after officiating the Autism Day celebration at the police force's  Pengaman Autism Centre here, today.

Also present were the centre's chairman Tan Sri Hussin Ismail; Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim; Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain and  Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

He said police were very serious in carrying out the investigation of this case to ensure that the perpetrators were caught,  even though it may take time.

"We will continue our investigation like we investigated the Zayn Rayyan case, even though it may take a long time, we will carry it out (the investigation), God willing.

"Based on intelligence and investigation, only then will we take action to arrest the suspect we have identified.

"We also need to have evidence. We cannot arrest people at will," he said.

Commenting further, Razarudin said so far more than 12 witnesses have finished recording their statements to help the police investigation related to this case, including Faisal himself.

"Faisal's statement was recorded earlier, in addition to more than 12 other witnesses including family members, the security guard (at the scene of the incident) and the doctor.

"In addition, we have also recorded the testimony of several other witnesses who are of interest to our investigation," he said.
