KUALA LUMPUR: A trader who tested positive for drugs, has been remanded for six days on suspicion of raping a teenage girl after offering the victim a job at a hotel in Taman Dagang, Ampang Jaya, on April 9.

Ampang Jaya district deputy police chief Superintendent Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare said the 17-year-old victim reported the incident on April 16.

He said the victim claimed that the suspect forced her into the hotel about 2am on April 9 and raped her twice.

"Investigation found that the incident is believed to have happened when the victim was promised a job by the suspect and invited to meet the employer.

"However, the suspect is alleged to have raped the teenager," he said in a statement today.

He said, the police arrested a 36-year-old man who worked as a trader in Hulu Langat on April 17.

"The result of the urine test found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine," he said.

He said the case was investigated under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping on conviction.
