KUALA LUMPUR: The police force today announced the transfers and promotions of 45 senior officers, with the most notable involving Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din and Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.

Effective March 25, Kamarudin will take over as Internal Security and Public Order director, replacing Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali, who has been appointed director-general of the new Malaysia Checkpoints and Border Agency.

Khaw, meanwhile, will be promoted to the rank of commissioner and will replace Kamarudin as ISPO director. His promotion and transfer will also take effect on the same date.

This is the third directorship which Kamarudin will be assuming at federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.

He was Johor police chief before being promoted and appointed Commercial Crime Investigation Department director, prior to taking on the NCID directorship.

The transfers and promotions were announced by Malaysian police secretary Deputy Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad.

Among other promotions and transfers he announced was NCID deputy director (property forfeiture/legal/detention) Datuk Hamzah Ahmad will also move to ISPO along with his boss, as deputy director of the department.

Alzafny said Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, who is retiring on April 1, will be replaced by Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (investigation/legal) Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

Federal Management Department deputy director Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin has been appointed as the Penang deputy police chief, replacing Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad who will take over Rusdi's position.

Alzafny said Selangor Special Branch head Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Hairuddin Che Hamid will be transferred to the Special Branch at federal level as principal assistant director of E3 with a promotion to the rank of deputy commissioner.

He said the CID Sexual Investigation of Women and Children Division principal assistant director Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan, meanwhile, will be promoted to SAC but will remain in her current position.

"Sungai Buloh police chief Superintendent Shafa'aton Abu Bakar has been transferred as Perak Management Department head with a promotion to ACP," he said.

Alzafny said the others transfers on the llist also included KLIA police chief ACP Imran Abd Rahman, who has been promoted to SAC and appointed Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department principal assistant director.

Negeri Sembilan CCID chief Superintendent Aibee Ab Ghani, meanwhile, has been promoted to ACP and transferred to CCID at federal level as its principal assistant director.
