KUALA LUMPUR: Former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainudin today pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to declare 71 of his assets to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
According to the charge sheet, the 85-year-old failed to comply with a MACC notice to declare his assets such as one bank account, seven luxury vehicles, 38 companies, and 25 properties at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on Dec 13, last year.
He was charged under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act which carries a maximum five years' imprisonment and RM100,000 fine upon conviction.
Among the vehicles that Daim failed to declare to the MACC include a Mercedes Benz 600 SEL, Jaguar XJS HE and Mercedes Benz 450SEL.
Daim also failed to declare 25 properties, which include;
- the Rompin House in Fraser's Hill
- Avillion Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan
- Avillion Admiral Cove in Negri Sembilan
- Avillion Cameron Highlands in Cameron Highlands, Pahang
- AVI Pangkor Beach Resort in Pulau Pangkor, Perak
