JOHOR BARU: The Johor police have detained 67 people for allegedly being involved in prostitution activities in a statewide operation conducted on Thursday.

Dubbed 'Op Noda Khas', a total of 17 premises were raided, and various confiscations were made, including a quantity of drugs and cash.

State police chief Commissioner M Kumar said the operation was initiated aiming at tackling prostitution activities, emphasising targeted raids on premises suspected to be engaged in such illicit practices.

"Seventeen premises were raided, and 67 individuals were arrested, comprising eight local men, six foreign men, four local women, and 49 foreign women, all aged between 21 and 61.

"As a result of the raids, the police successfully seized work schedules, several receipts, condoms, lubricants, massage oil bottles, tissues, various branded mobile phones, various types of drugs weighing an estimated 2,580.80 grams, and cash amounting to RM57,447," he said in a media statement today.

He also said the case is being investigated under Section 107 of the Local Government Act 1976, Section 372, Section 372B, and Section 373 of the Penal Code.

Additionally, investigations are being conducted under Section 6(1)(c), Section 15(1)(c), and Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, as well as Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 and Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Kumar added that the Johor police will continue to conduct ongoing operations to eradicate prostitution activities in the state.

"Stringent action will be taken against any individual or party attempting to take advantage and engage in these activities.

"The success of this operation results from information and intelligence from the police and the public.

"If the public has any information related to prostitution activities, they can immediately contact the nearby police station or the Johor Police Operations Room at 07-221 2999 or 07-225 4677," he said.
