KUALA LUMPUR: Two police reports were lodged against Federal Territory Pas commissioner Azhar Yahya for allegedly inciting racial hatred when he commented on local council (PBT) elections.

The report was lodged at the Setapak police station here by Federal Territory PKR Youth chief Mohammad Azfar Aza Azhar and the party's Federal Territory division vice-chairman Lai Chen Heng.

Mohammad Azfar said the Pas leader used misleading information regarding voters composition in the Lembah Pantai and Bandar Tun Razak constituencies to create unnecessary racial tensions between the Malays and the non-Malays.

"He mentioned that the actual majority Malays are the minorities.

"I want to ask how and if he failed in his mathematics.

"We urge the police to investigate his statement as the false information could incite racial tensions," he said today.

Lai said the Pas leader's statement has elements of racial bias and that such matters should be stopped before it escalates.

He added that although everyone has the right to express their opinion, but not at the expense of using falsified information to justify their arguments.

"The Internet is a space for freedom of speech, but we are making this report to call the police to take necessary actions according to the law," he added.
