KUBANG PASU: Two men suspected of trafficking over 10 kilogrammes of marijuana worth RM33,000 were arrested by police at a car park lot near RTC Napoh here on Monday.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Rodzi Abu Hassan said that the arrest took place during a raid at 4.45pm based on gathered intelligence.

He said police seized a backpack from one suspect, a Thai national in his 30s, containing 10 plastic packages with a total of 10,256g of marijuana.

"The suspects are believed to be drug traffickers, and we are investigating the possibility of them intending to distribute the drugs to a specific syndicate.

"The Thai man has no criminal record, while the local suspect, a 24-year-old from Gemas, Negri Sembilan, has six prior criminal offences," he said at a press conference at the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters here today.

Rodzi added they suspect the drug supply entered the country through the border via hidden routes.

"The Thai suspect lacked any identification documents. Two Honda motorcycles were also confiscated.

He added that both suspects were remanded for seven days until Dec 25 to aid investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and we are still determining how long they have been involved in these activities," he added.

He said both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.

"This arrest prevents the potential use of the 10kg of marijuana by an estimated 4,000 addicts," he added.
