ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested three suspected drug addicts in separate crime prevention patrols in housing estates in Kangkar Pulai near here within 48 hours.

A 30-year-old man, who tested positive for heroin was arrested yesterday after he was spotted acting suspiciously along Jalan Agas in Taman Desa Permai.

On Thursday (Dec 14), two suspected addicts including a 34-year-old man was arrested in Jalan Pulai 49 in Taman Pulai Utama after he was found to be syabu-positive.

Another man in his 30s was arrested in Jalan Seri Orkid 15 in Taman Mutiara Rini after testing positive for meth.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin said all three suspects were detained under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which upon conviction is punishable with a RM5,000 fine or a two-year imprisonment term.

Rahmat said the district police's crime prevention task force conducts frequent crime prevention patrols in housing estates, and the practice has resulted in numerous drug-abuse and petty-theft related arrests.

He also urged member of the public in the respective hosing estates to contact their hotline at 07-5114486 or 07 5113622, if they spotted any suspicious activities.
