PETALING JAYA: Police today continued their investigation into the murder of 6-year-old autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, deploying a drone to scout the Damansara Damai area where his body was found.
The Bukit Aman Drone Unit deployed a drone to obtain a bird's eye view of the area, located some 200-metres from the Idaman Apartments where the boy had resided.
It is understood that the team were scouting for possible escape routes the killer may have used. Zayn Rayyan's body was found on Wednesday night along a shallow stream located near shrubs and foliage.
The unit, which arrived at 5pm, spent 20 minutes piloting the drone before leaving around 5.40pm.
The area has since been cordoned off by police teams from the Petaling Jaya police headquarters and Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, who began their search of the area at 9.30am.
Zayn Rayyan, who was reported missing since Tuesday afternoon, was found dead in a stream about 200 metres from his home at 10pm on Wednesday by a group of residents who had assisted in the search operations.
Earlier, his mother was reported as saying she realised her son was missing while climbing the stairs up to their third-floor apartment unit on the way back from a park at around noon.
Police have classified his death as murder. Police also believe that he was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped along the stream.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the autopsy found ligature marks on his neck and body.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
