KUALA LUMPUR: Two Taiwanese nationals wanted for their alleged involvement in a shooting case at their home country were arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang last week.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the duo were arrested by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department upon their arrival from Taiwan on April 20.

They were arrested under the Immigration Act 1959/63 after Taiwan's government issued an arrest warrant against them and revoked their passports, he said.

"Both suspects are wanted by Taiwan police over their suspected involvement in a shooting case in Taiwan.

"It is believed that the suspects are members of a secret society and scam syndicate in their home country," Acryl said in a statement today.

He added that both suspects were handed over to their Taiwanese counterparts at KLIA at 2.45pm yesterday (April 28).

Acryl highlighted the close cooperation between Malaysian and Taiwanese authorities and said they would continue to work together to identify and crackdown on any criminal networks linked to the suspects in Malaysia.

"The police is committed to preserving peace and public order in the country.

"We will continue with preventive measures to ensure that Malaysia does not become a transit destination for any irresponsible people who violates the law," he added.
