SIBU: The skeletal remains of an unidentified man was found in some undergrowth along Jalan Kristal in Sibujaya, here, yesterday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkipli Suhaili said a 39-year-old local man made the discovery and lodged a report at 10.08am.

"The man reported that he had found an object which resembled a skeleton. A team was sent to the area and confirmed that the 'object' was indeed the skeletal remains of a man.

"The deceased was wearing blue jeans but had no shirt," he said, adding that the deceased was believed to have been dead for a month.

A search of the area did not turn up any identification document, said Zulkipli.

"The remains were sent to the Sibu Hospital mortuary for further action," he said, adding that the case has been classified as "sudden death" for now.

Anyone with information on the case, or who have a missing relative, should contact the nearest police station, investigating officer Inspector Rodua Tayo at 013-8420588 or the Sibu police headquarters operations centre at 084-364373.
