TUARAN: A man was killed while his wife was injured when their car skidded and crashed in Kampung Minangkob, Jalan Tamparuli - Ranau here.

In the 3pm incident yesterday, the 31-year-old man, who was driving a Proton Iswara car, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

District police chief deputy superintendent Mohd Hamizi Halim confirmed the incident and initial investigations found that the victim was driving from Ranau to Tamparuli.

"The victim is believed to have lost control and skidded before hitting a rock on the left shoulder of the road".

"As a result, the victim suffered severe injuries to his head and limbs before being confirmed dead by paramedics," he said when contacted.

According to Mohd Hamizi, the victim's body was taken to Tuaran hospital for further action.

"The injured victim's wife was also sent to Tuaran hospital and is still undergoing treatment".

"Investigations into the case are continuing in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 and the police have asked witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigations," he said.
