KUALA LUMPUR: The Chief Syariah Court Judge of Malaysia today managed to get a court order to stop a former Umno supreme council member from posting any articles relating to the alleged lewd acts by the former.

The High Court also ordered Datuk Lokman Noor Adam to remove his allegedly defamatory remarks against Datuk Mohd Na'im Mokhtar relating to the matter via the former's Facebook and YouTube accounts.

Na'im's counsel Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kadir said Judge Datuk Rozana Ali Yusoff made the ruling after allowing their ex-parte injunction to order Lokman to remove the postings.

"The court also fixed Feb 7 as the next date for the inter parte hearing," he said when contacted today.

Na'im on Jan 7, filed a defamation suit against Lokman claiming the latter had defamed him by making those statements during two Facebook live posts between Jan 10 and Jan 13.

Na'im who is also Syariah Judiciary Department Director-General claimed the posting depicted him as not being a credible leader to set a good example to the community.

The plaintiff also claimed that the posting had tarnished the Syariah Judiciary Department's image and institution.

"The defendant had published the statements with intention to spread it to local and foreign media agencies.

"The defamatory statements have tarnished the plaintiff's reputation, dignity, and degraded his status in the eyes of the public," he said in the suit.

Na'im is seeking a court order for the defendant to take down the video and posts as well as an injunction to restrain the defendant from republishing them.

The plaintiff is also seeking a total of RM30 million in general, exemplary, aggravated, and punitive damages, and other relief deemed fit by the court.

On Jan 12, Na'im lodged a report against Lokman at the Ampang police station, accusing the latter of spreading slander and committing criminal defamation against him.

In his report, Naim denied the accusations against him and said it was all orchestrated by certain individuals out to oust him from his position.

He said the issue first surfaced on Dec 11, 2021, when a woman lodged a report against him, making all kinds of wild claims.

The controversy surrounding the senior judge became the talk of town after the allegations against him were uploaded in Facebook.

Police have since said they were conducting further investigations into the judge's case following the latest allegations by the married woman.

In her report, the 57-year-old woman claimed the judge had gone to her house close to midnight in August 2020 to visit her bedridden husband.

In her report, which was only lodged in December 2021, she claimed the judge later asked for permission to use the master bedroom to perform his prayers.

However she became concerned when he remained there for a long time and decided to check on him, only to discover him lying naked on her bed.

She alleged that as he was leaving her house at 3am the following morning, he remarked that she was beautiful and had strong faith, despite his actions earlier.
