KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Customs Department seized 248kg of compressed cannabis worth a whopping RM620,000 in an operation here yesterday.
No arrests however were made in the 11.39am operation at Jalan Cempaka here.
Kelantan Customs director Mohd Nasir Deraman said the cannabis was found in a Proton Exora parked inside a garage at Jalan Cempaka near Panji.
"Following a tip-off, a Customs team went to the location and after inspecting the vehicle, found 10 gunny sacks containing the cannabis," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Nasir said the drugs were likely smuggled into Kelantan via Sungai Golok.
"Smugglers would bring in the cannabis in stages in small quantities, storing them in a safe location before distributing them in the black market," he said.
He urged the public to continue providing information on smuggling activities to the department.
