CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has denied releasing a poster warning against the use of #SiBodohKauDengarSini hashtag on Twitter.

In a statement today, the MCMC said: "The viral poster contains made-up information along with punishment and Acts that will (purportedly) apply to those who violate the warning.

"The MCMC will continue to take appropriate steps to curb the spread of unverified information,"

The poster with the caricature of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin went viral yesterday as social media users used the hashtag to express their frustration over the limited operating hours of restaurants during the latest Movement Control Order.

During MCO 2.0, restaurants and food stalls must close by 8pm with the food delivery service no longer accepting orders as early as 7.20pm.
