JOHOR BARU: A cat was found crushed to death by a roller shutter door at a bank in Taman Tampoi Utama, Tampoi here, early this morning.
It is believed that the incident was the result of a deliberate act of animal cruelty.
In a statement today, the Malaysia Animal Association said it was alerted to the incident by a member of the public at about 4.30am, Bernama reported.
"The incident seems to have been deliberately committed by holding the cat's body (under the shutter as it) slowly rolled down, until its neck was pinned.
"Cats will not wait at a location with loud and abrupt noise. The loud sound of the shutter would have scared off the cat," the association wrote in a post on its Facebook page.
It has urged those with information on the incident to come forward and contact the organisation at 011-20901097.
